Upon My Fiftieth Birthday
I never thought I’d live to see
My life last half a century.
But since it has, I find I hope
To push a century’s envelope.
So, out with luscious foods galore
That beckon me with some, then more.
Begone with wine served twice or thrice;
One glass per day must now suffice.
And welcome antioxidants
In food and drink and supplements,
As well as daily exercise
That tones the mind, the heart, the thighs.
Or not. Perhaps, the better plan
Is to live well as best one can.
